The LLM 2026-28 cohort will be automatically enrolled onto this module.

The purpose of this module is to prepare you for the step into formally Licensed Lay Ministry. You will already be involved in a range of ministry and/or leadership positions within the life of your local church, but your role – and the expectations upon you – will change once you are licensed (and many find that even changes as you begin the training programme).

Licensed Lay Ministers are lay people who, following a call from God, are trained and licensed by the Bishop to:

  • Teach the faith
  • Enable mission
  • Lead in Church and Society

This is a largely self-directed, placement-based module which uses a variety of means to help equip you for that rounded leadership role. It runs through the whole of your LLM training programme. The various reports and reflections prepared by you and your supervisors during this module form a ‘portfolio’ which is used as the backbone of the discernment process eventually leading to a decision about recommending you to the Bishop for licensing at the end of the programme.
